Francisco de Sá de Miranda Municipal Library
Francisco de Sá de Miranda Municipal Library

The Town Hall is the former name of the building that housed the municipal administration of the Municipality of Amares. This building housed the City Council and other public services, such as the Court, the Civil Registry Office, the Federal Revenue Service and the Jail.

Currently converted into the services of the Francisco de Sá de Miranda Municipal Library, according to the parish records of Amares, it already existed in the 18th century and is located in Largo D. Gualdim Pais, in Amares.

It consists of three floors and, despite not having great architectural richness, it is a very imposing building in the context of the urban construction that surrounds it, a physical symbol of local power.

The services of the Municipality of Amares operated in this building until 1993, when they were transferred to the current facilities. The services of the Municipal Library have operated in this building since 2012.
